It's because flowchart was easy to read
All those symbols/shapes was the main object to instruct people
Simple words
user friendly
How will it help your users to meet the interactive goals?
It was simple
Even my English bad also can understand the instruction
although the meaning of shapes/symbols were more complicated,and not easy to remember at first,
but after few days or week ,this flowchart will acceptable.
The instruction was clear
1.After i watched those video clips,i was so suffer @@
2.Image google-ing...
-It shows continuous.
-Movement
-Instruction
-It might be a mind map,but not crazy as what we did.
-Same like what i had been done in psychological test
-Show a message
-Its a diagram
-The Important of Shape
3.The explanation of wikipedia was too complicated.
Study from the chart was easier than everything ..
that is not consider as a mind map actually, that's a diagram represent a process. show the direction clearly. it's more easier to analysis, designing a process through the flowchart.

umm.. what do you mean for those symbols/shapes was the main object to instruct people? I think those symbols/shapes only represent the direction and information in flowchart. By the way, with the information of flowchart, users can also analyze their mistake and refine it in a more effective way (=
